Golf Course Canada Geese Control

Few landscapes suit a Canada goose better than a golf course. Wide-open fairways of mowed, fertilized turf sit right next to ponds and water hazards, giving geese everything they look for: young grass to graze, open sightlines to watch for predators, and water to retreat to when threatened. The result for course managers is fouled greens, slick droppings on cart paths and putting surfaces, and aggressive geese during nesting season that can spook golfers and staff.

Canada geese behave differently across the golf season, and a program that ignores that timing wastes effort. Nesting begins in early spring, when resident pairs claim territory near ponds and rough, and this is the window when an early Initial Clearing Program visit does the most good, encouraging pairs to settle elsewhere before eggs are ever laid. In late spring and early summer, adult geese molt their flight feathers and become temporarily flightless, which pushes them to concentrate on open turf near water where they feel safest, often turning a manageable flock into a visible one almost overnight. By late summer and into fall, migratory flocks pass through and can join resident birds on the course for weeks at a time, adding pressure right as club events and fall tournaments ramp up.

We build the visit schedule around this cycle rather than a flat weekly rotation, front-loading Border Collie visits during the flightless period and tightening the Maintenance Program schedule again ahead of migratory season.
